Linus led the way following the first runs on new tyres, despite tagging the barriers on the exit of Turn 9 just before heading to the pits for a second set of Coopers.
The GRG/HMD crew swiftly replaced a damaged rear wishbone before sending Linus back out, although he eventually fell to seventh as times tumbled on the final runs.
LINUS: “The car felt good out there, and I was fastest on the first set, so I honestly don’t know why we weren’t able to improve as much as the others on run two. “I did tag the wall briefly, but it wasn’t major and the team did a good job getting me back out in the middle of the session. The car felt alright, but we just couldn’t get back on the pace. We will have a close look overnight to understand what happened, and then we have two long and exciting races ahead in which I will do my best to make up ground.”
Race 1 takes place at 3:20 pm / 21.20 on Saturday.
