Linus was left an uncharacteristic P7 in second qualifying at Road America, as he struggled for grip in a decisive last-gasp shootout following a red-flag stoppage…
The session was halted with ten minutes to go when Carlin’s Christian Bogle ran off track, forcing Linus and several others to return slowly to the pitlane just seconds after leaving it on their sole set of new tyres.
Once action did resume, time was at a premium and all cars could squeeze in just two flying laps before the clock ticked down to zero.
Linus came across on his final lap to briefly hold P2, but was swiftly shuffled back down the order as cars behind him came around, ultimately taking seventh.
That means Linus will start this weekend’s two races in P5 and P7 respectively. Danial Frost will be on pole in both.
“I’m obviously not very happy with that, as it’s far below my normal level. The red flag hurt us a little bit, but it was the same for most and to be honest I didn’t feel like my driving gelled today. It’s a bit tricky to get a feel for these tyres, which are a little different this weekend due to the high loads of this track. Still, the car itself feels strong and I’m confident we can have two good races. Hopefully I can put on a show and do some overtaking!”
Race 1 begins at 3.05 pm / 22.05.
