Linus took the chequered flag in the same position from which he started – fourth – in a relatively static first race of the weekend at Mid-Ohio on Saturday afternoon…
In a 35-lap encounter that did not provide a lot of drama, the only change of position within the top five came when David Malukas ran off the road at Turn 9 and lost second place to Danial Frost.
That meant a 1-2 victory for Andretti Autosport courtesy of Frost and winner Kyle Kirkwood, while Malukas and Linus took third and fourth for GRG/HMD.
“There wasn’t a lot going on in this race, and unfortunately we didn’t quite have the pace for more today. I almost got past my team-mate when he went off, but he managed to stay just ahead. It’s really hard to follow around here. We will analyze the data overnight to see if we can improve enough to give the Andretti guys a run for their money tomorrow.”
The Indy Lights weekend concludes with Race 2 at 10.00 am / 16.00 on Sunday, with Linus set to start from third.
