Linus Lundqvist has wrapped up his third NTT INDYCAR SERIES test after a productive day of running with Ed Carpenter Racing at Sebring International Raceway in Florida.
Conducted on Thursday, the test saw reigning Indy Lights champion Lundqvist step inside ECR’s #21 entry usually driven by Rinus VeeKay. Despite a rain shower falling around lunch time, the test ran according to plan with more than 150 laps completed.
“It’s been a great day, and a pleasure to work with everyone at Ed Carpenter Racing for the first time,” says Linus Lundqvist. “It was really busy with a lot of time and mileage in the car, which is particularly useful in a year like this when I’m not racing regularly. The pace was encouraging from the get-go and the team were able to test a lot of different things, which was good. It’s all smiles; it’s been a terrific day.”
Thursday’s test marked Lundqvist’s third-ever INDYCAR outing, and his first on a road course since making his test debut with Andretti Autosport at Indianapolis in 2021. The Swede also tested for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing on the oval at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year.
In testing with Ed Carpenter Racing, Lundqvist also got his first taste of a Chevrolet-powered INDYCAR machine following previous runs with Honda-engined teams.
“There were a few things to adapt to today, but it actually went really well,” Linus Lundqvist concludes. “The two different engines have quite different characteristics, which was interesting to experience, and it was nearly two years since I last drove an Indy car on a road course. That’s obviously very different to an oval. Lots learned for all of us, and I hope I’ll be back in the car soon.”
Linus Lundqvist will return to his native Sweden later this month for a guest outing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia championship in Skellefteå, Sweden, on June 30 – July 1.
