Linus Lundqvist has wrapped up his first-ever NTT INDYCAR SERIES test, getting to grips with the top tier of U.S. single-seater racing…
The test took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Monday, with Lundqvist completing 46 trouble-free laps aboard Andretti Autosport’s Honda-powered #29 car as part of his prize for finishing third in the 2021 Indy Lights standings.
“It was absolutely awesome; one of the best days of my life,” says Linus Lundqvist. “I’ve been looking at INDYCAR for so many years, dreaming about getting into one of those cars, and now to have actually done it is incredible. It’s the fastest car I’ve driven by far: the brakes, the grip, the speed – everything is just at a different level. It’s tough to drive physically and my shoulders certainly agree!”
The test took place in cool but dry weather conditions, with Lundqvist rapidly getting up to speed while sharing the track with fellow Indy Lights top three finishers Kyle Kirkwood and David Malukas (both USA).
“It has been a fantastic day, and I’m very pleased with how it went,” Linus Lundqvist continues. “We’ve done plenty of laps, the pace has been strong, and I’ve had a great experience working with the team and seeing what this level is actually about. Big thanks to Andretti Autosport and INDYCAR for setting this up and making it happen. I will never forget it.”
Before finishing third in his rookie Indy Lights season this year, Linus Lundqvist clinched the Formula Regional Americas title in 2020, the British F3 championship in 2018, and won the Formula STCC Nordic series in 2016. Work for the 2022 campaign is currently ongoing.
