Sweden’s Linus Lundqvist is a quadruple single-seater champion, clinching the 2022 INDY NXT championship, the 2020 Formula Regional Americas title, the 2018 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship and the 2016 Formula STCC Nordic crown. In 2024, he will race the #8 American Legion Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

Linus put in what he labelled one of his best laps of the year to end up just 0.01 seconds from pole for Sunday’s season-ending Indy Lights race at Laguna Seca, blocking an Andretti Autosport front-row lock-out.
Linus wrestled his way to a 1m15.378s best in the final part of Saturday morning qualifying, which was split in two halves – round one determining the grid for today’s Race 1, and round two setting the grid for tomorrow’s Race 2.
That effort put him a mere 0.017s off Christian Rasmussen’s pole-setting time, and a tenth clear of the Dane’s Andretti team-mate Sting Ray Robb.
LINUS: “That was a big lap! In all honesty I don’t think the car really had that in it today. It was definitely a special one. We were not as fast as Andretti today, so ending up just a hundredth from pole and splitting them up there is rewarding in a sense. We’re on the front row for tomorrow and will go for it, count on that.”
In the first part of the split session, Linus wound up fifth for Race 1, not pleased with the balance of the car. Pole for Race 1 went to Robb ahead of Rasmussen.
