With the qualifying running order decided by reversed championship standings, Linus was third last to hit the track in the one-by-one format.
He turned an opening lap of 158.688 mph, before completing his two-lap attempt at a very similar 158.629 mph.
With the first flying lap used to shape the grid for Race 1 and the second determining the grid for Race 2, Linus will line up fourth for the opening encounter later today and fifth tomorrow.
Title rivals David Malukas and Kyle Kirkwood took a pole position each.
Having topped the times in preceding practice, the outcome was not what Linus had been hoping for.
LINUS: “Very disappointed with that, if I’m frank. I left too much on the line. It’s probably a little bit of lack of experience, I think that caught up a bit when things turned up in qualifying. The car was fast and I think I do have the speed to be up there too, but I was just too cautious today. Anyway, let’s move on and make the best of what we’ve got. I can’t wait to go racing!”
The first race of the weekend is coming up in less than two hours’ time, pencilled in for a 5.30 pm / 00.30 start. The 75-lap dash – which will carry live streaming accessible from www.linuslundqvistracing.se – will mark Linus’ first-ever oval race.
