Linus had a trouble-free first acquaintance with the Nashville street track in opening practice for this weekend’s Indy Lights event in Tennessee, going fourth fastest…
The session was led by Benjamin Pedersen and Danial Frost in an HMD 1-2, with Linus backing up a strong start for the team in fourth, just 0.01s behind Andretti’s Hunter McElrea in P3.
While Pedersen enjoyed a four-tenth advantage at the head of the field, it was a closely contested affair among the following quartet, with Frost, McElrea, Linus and Matthew Brabham all separated by less than a tenth of a second.
LINUS: “I love this place! I thought Detroit was easily the bumpiest track on the schedule, but here actually matches that, at least over the bridges. There are a couple of big braking zones from high speed into (Turn) 4 and 9, which should promote good racing on Sunday, and some really technical sections at either end of the track. It’s a nice challenge and I enjoy it a lot so far.
“As for the session, it’s a good start to the weekend. P4, with my team-mates P1 and P2, bodes well and shows that the car is in the window. We have a second practice session tomorrow, so I didn’t risk anything today. We’ll look at the data overnight, get back tomorrow, and make sure we’re where we need to be for qualifying.”
