Leading the charts for much of the session, Linus was eventually shuffled down to fourth in the closing stages as a trio of Andretti Autosport cars shot to the top.
Ending up some four tenths off the ultimate pace, Linus remained confident going into qualifying early on Saturday morning – having stayed off any new tyres or push-to-pass use in practice.
LINUS: “I think it’s a really good start for us here. The car felt solid and I got quickly up to speed. I never used any push-to-pass; we’re not allowed to in qualifying anyway, so I preferred to stick with relevance and just prepare for what matters. There’s definitely more in the bag and we’ve had a solid first day, so I’m really happy.”
The Indy Lights field is back on track for a very early 7:45 am / 13.45 qualifying dash around the streets of Detroit on Saturday morning. Qualifying will be split into two halves this weekend, with the first segment setting the grid for Race 1 and the second mini-session setting the grid for Race 2.
Linus has clinched three out of four pole positions on offer so far this season.
