Linus delivered on the early promise to snatch pole position on debut in Friday’s opening Indy Lights qualifying session of the season at Barber Motorsports Park…
Powering to the outright fastest lap ever recorded in Indy Lights machinery at the Alabama track, Linus shattered the existing qualifying lap record by nearly a full second with a 1m11.514s best.
That effort proved enough to beat the opposition, once again led by team-mate David Malukas, by 0.166 seconds.
Multiple Road to Indy champion Kyle Kirkwood was third, three tenths down on Linus.
LINUS: “YES!!! I’m so, so happy right now – this means a lot. We’ve had good pace in testing and practice, but this is the real deal and we are now clearly competitive. It was a great lap and the car came together nicely on the final run. Big thanks to the team for giving me a great car.”
Thanks to his qualifying performance, Linus also grabs an early championship lead courtesy of the one bonus point on offer for pole position. Next up on Friday is Qualifying 2, staged at 3.00-3.30 pm / 22.00-22.30.
