Andretti Autosport continued to set the pace in the final practice session before qualifying at Mid-Ohio, but Linus and HMD Motorsports took an important step forward, taking P4 just a tenth off second place.
Although Hunter McElrea enjoyed a 0.390s advantage at the sharp end of the field, his Andretti team-mates Matthew Brabham and Christian Rasmussen were closely matched in second and third – with Linus just fractions behind in fourth.
Jacob Abel rounded out the top five, ahead of the second-best placed HMD car of Benjamin Pedersen.
LINUS: “It’s a step in the right direction, but we’re not quite where we want to be just yet. Driving-wise it felt like a solid lap. We still have some thinking to do, and we will see what we can do to extract some more performance in qualifying.”
Qualifying is up next, taking place at 1:45-2:05 pm / 19.45-20.05.
