Linus scored his best result since the Detroit street event back in June to finish as runner-up in the first race of the weekend at Laguna Seca…
Taking the flag behind Andretti Autosport’s Kyle Kirkwood, Linus led home Benjamin Pedersen and David Malukas in a Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports 2-3-4.
Malukas had initially run third, but dropped behind Pedersen after a brief off at Turn 4 at the halfway stages.
Linus’ second place marks his third straight Indy Lights podium, backing up his rostrum double from Portland last weekend.
Linus: “P2 and our best result since Detroit, so good job by everyone on the team! I always want to win, but today, second was the best we could get. Kyle was just too fast and I knew that my best opportunity was getting around him at the start. I tried to hang it out around the outside at Turn 2 but couldn’t quite get past, and from there we had to look after the tyres. Let’s see what we can do to try and find some more pace tomorrow.”
The weekend on the Monterey peninsula concludes on Sunday with Race 2.
