Linus has taken fifth on the grid for tomorrow’s opening Indy Lights race of the weekend at Road America, after lapping less than a tenth of a second off the front row in Qualifying 1.
Linus sealed the result with a late last lap in bright and sunny summer conditions, as times tumbled around the longest track on the calendar.
His 1m56.169s effort eventually saw him slot in just fractions behind fellow championship contender Kyle Kirkwood in fourth, and a similarly small distance behind Devlin DeFrancesco and David Malukas in P3 and P2 respectively.
Out front, Danial Frost sealed his first pole position of the season as he led team-mates DeFrancesco and Kirkwood to form a trio of Andretti Autosport cars inside the top four, intertwined by Linus and Malukas for Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports.
With the grid now set for Saturday’s Race 1, the next phase of the Road America weekend is the second qualifying showdown to shape the grid for Race 2.
Qualifying 2 takes place at 9.20-9.50 am / 16.20-16.50 on Saturday.
