Linus ended a productive day of running at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by going third fastest in the official practice session, but it was his time from testing that stood as the day’s outright best.
Practice saw slower times than those recorded earlier in the day in the two test sessions, owing to tyre allocation and preparation programmes for the up-coming weekend.
That meant Linus’ benchmark time from Test 2, a 1m15.392s, remained unchallenged as the quickest lap of the day.
As for practice, it was Danial Frost (Andretti Autosport) who set the pace ahead of Toby Sowery (Juncos Racing), with Linus in P3 for Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports.
Frost’s Andretti team-mates Kyle Kirkwood and Robert Megennis rounded out the top five.
Ending a day of close competition, the top ten in practice were covered by less than 0.4 of a second to set a thrilling platform for the rest of the event.
Running resumes at IMS on Friday with the first qualifying and race double of the weekend.
