- Snetterton next up for British F3 points’ leader
- Confidence running high following podium clean-sweep
Two wins from the opening six races have positioned Linus Lundqvist at the head of the BRDC British F3 Championship standings. Ahead of round three of the season at Snetterton this weekend, the Swedish F3 rookie has become the hunted – and he’s thriving in the hot seat.
Leading the standings by 11 points from Denmark’s Nicolai Kjaergaard, Lundqvist and his Scandinavian rival have opened up a small gap over third-placed Tom Gamble in the classification, the Briton currently trailing Lundqvist by 37 points.
Double R Racing man Lundqvist heads to Snetterton on the back of a highly successful round last time out at Rockingham, where he stormed to the podium in each of the three races staged – and capped off the event with a defensive masterclass as he fought off Kjaergaard for victory in Race 3.
”I’m really looking forward to Snetterton,” says Linus Lundqvist. ”I’m heading there with confidence on the back of our two wins at Oulton Park and Rockingham, and as the leader of the championship. We also had a very productive test at Silverstone last week, so I think we have every reason to be optimistic – although as always I’m sure our rivals will do their best to make our life as hard as possible.”
There is a significant amount of track time scheduled for the Snetterton meeting, which gets underway already on Thursday with four one-hour test sessions. Another four practice outings, each 30 minutes in length, will follow on Friday.
Qualifying and Race 1 will be staged on Saturday, with activities then drawing to a close on Sunday with the final two races of the weekend.
